I wondered if you had a cross reference list for the kanji cards with Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji". Also wanted to say thanks for the great cards, they are very high quality and definitely are the best on the market.

Looks like I dont have heisig, but I could probably generate that sometime. He and I correspond by email, so Ill see if I can get electronic copy of the kanji list, so I can use it to query our database. Im going to Brazil for a while, so Ill do it when I get back (July 6th).

Also, you can input the kanji in our Kanji Finder in order to generate your own cross-reference lists.

Any heads-up on this? As someone posted there is a list to hand at http://www.ziggr.com/heisig/
A cross-reference to Heisig and to Henshall would be unbelievably useful.

Nick.

I have the Heisig/henshall reference (taken from EDICT I think). I can put it in our download section.

BTW, interesting post on Heisig method:

Hi Max,
Hope you are well. I'm currently getting absorbed in the vast world of Kanji etymology looking at original chinese Oracle bone and later developments.
I thought I'd check back on this here - were these cross-references to either or both Henshall and Heisig (interesting post too) uploaded?
It would be very useful to me, I'm sure to others, to have a solid link to these major reference and learning works.

I also know your flashcards vol.3 is on the brink of being unleashed upon the world - looking forward to that (although I'm not there yet, in my own studies) - so I appreciate you will be fully engaged with that and it would be nice to have any cross reference to include this new member to your product family.
Hope to hear from you,
All the best,
Nick.

Greetings,
Thanks for providing the kanjifinder!
However seems to be a minor issue with it.

I enter the character

and that gets the error message -
"The symbol(s) not found."

(This same character, incidentally, if entered with some other characters returns a file which does not contain 呂in the first kanji list in the file, but in the 'example list' as card number 278)

Has someone generated a complete heisig index using the kanjifinder ? has this list been posted somewhere ?

thanks,
warm regards,
Keshav

Here is a heisig-ordered list of all the kanji in 'Remembering the Kanji - I' if someone wants to generate a complete cross reference -

Hi,
Thanks for that keshav, works perfectly, I hope that will help. I will print that out until my kanji poster(from the other thread) arrives.

I don't have enough know-how to sort the lists myself, anyone specialise in this kind of thing or have very idiot-proof instructions?

A complete, master cross-reference of all lists so far with all WRP flash cards vol. 1-3 would be amazing. Heisig/Henshall/WRP are the key ones though.

Kind regards,
Nick.

For anyone still waiting for this crossreference from '06 , I have found http://www.joyo96.org/cgi-bin/xref.pl which is a crossreference tool for Heisig and Henshall. It covers WRP cards vol1-2 only though but is nonetheless extremely useful. Other than that the fellow who created EDICT was kind enough to send me a spreadsheet with these references all in, so alternatively worth asking nicely for (or PM me).

If anyone uses iFlash on the mac I have a flashcard set that contains all of Heisig cross referenced with White Rabbit and categorised by JLPT level and On yomi. No Kun yomi in there yet. Email me john.collick_at_mac.com if you want a copy.

Is there somewhere a complete list of all the WRP kanjis and order number? That's all I need so I could make a Heisig/WRP cross reference list with excel very quickly (and share it). I already got the Heisig list, I just need WRP list.

Btw, the cards arrived today. I love you WRP.

Ok, I did it. The Heisig/WRP Cross Reference.

I discovered you can search up to 100 kanji at once with http://www.whiterabbitpress.com/kanji_finder.php so I got all the kanjis out pretty quick.
Here's an excel cross reference for you guys. First columns are in RtK order, and second columns are in WRP order. There were suprisingly one kanji in WRP cards that's not in RtK1, but in RtK3.

http://rapidshare.com/files/143901524/Heis...erence.xls.html

SORRY for the rapidshare pain. I would have uploaded it as an attachment if this forum had allowed me. There aren't any macros in that sheet by the way.

Definitely appreciated. Is there any chance you have the list arranged according to Heisig's 2nd book. If anyone has gone through or is going through the process - while the 1st book makes you learn the meanings in order - I think the more effective way to study is according to the On-Yomi which he presents in the 2nd volume. I'm currently in the process of organizing my Kanji cards that way - perhaps there's a way to organize the key words alphabetically?? I think there's a way to do that with Excel but I haven't used it for years...any help Excel Guru?? Thanks

Sorry, I did't notice your request earlier.

I would need a same kind of ready made online list of Heisig's 2nd book kanji order. Like this one for book 1 http://ziggr.com/heisig/ (Zig, if you read this, you're my personal hero for compiling that list).
Then I could have excel do it's magic. But I'm not going to start listing them manually one by one, that's just too much work. I don't even have the second book. But hey, thanks anyways for using my current list. smile.gif

Sorting alphabetically by key words is very easy. Select Columns A to D, then go to Data --> Sort. Now choose Sort by "RtK1 Meaning" (or it might be Sort by "Column B"). Order "Ascending" (or "A to Z", depends if you have Excel 2003 or 2007). Then just OK.
