This vocabulary and kanji book (which features a special kanji supplement) makes studying fun and easy. Each chapter is short and manageable yet packed with useful information. It's perfect for those of you who don't have much time to study, yet would like to constantly be improving your Japanese skills. It contains a wealth of vocabulary and kanji, and is guaranteed to help you improve in preparation for the level 3 examination.

Each chapter is based around a theme, for example, "Let's Have a Party!" The chapter begins with a short passage in natural, conversational language. This differentiates it from many Japanese textbooks, which are full of dry and un-captivating language. Each chapter includes two lists of new vocabulary, the idea being that if you have a limited amount of time, you can just focus on the most essential vocabulary. This is all followed by review exercises.

The special Kanji Study Supplement features a fresh, fun and interesting approach to studying kanji. The author, a one-time Japanese elementary school teacher, based the system on what she learned in her years of teaching kanji to Japanese children. She found - not surprisingly - that they were much better at memorizing kanji via mnemonic devices, rather than rote memorization.
