We know that many Japanese language learners have a hard time finding reading material for their proficiency level. So we are happy to announce this new title which we are exporting.

Published in late 2006, this product is actullay a boxed-set of 5 booklets which comprise 5 stories with about 1,500-2,500 words each.  The included CD audio companion includes the full-text read by Japanese native speakers.

Japanese Graded Readers Level 2 - Volume 1 is designed for a proficiency level equivalent to Japanese Langauge Proficiency Test Level 4-3 (see chart below). The set of stories utilizes a vocabulary of about 500 words. The grammar points include: dictionary form, ~te form, ~nai form, ~ta form, conditional, ~kara, ~naru, ~noda, etc.

The stories are beautifully illustrated, and furigana (small kana written beside kanji to show the pronunciation) are included on all the kanji.

This is a great set for improving your confidence with reading. It includes some classic stories that all Japanese know, such as Ikkyu-san and Momotaro, so it's also a lesson in the culture.

I recommend that you be familiar with, or at least in the process of studying, the JLPT level 3 and 4 (White Rabbit kanji cards Volume 1) if you are going to get into this set. It will help greatly with your understanding of the stories.
