White Rabbit Press :: Flashcards :: Flashcard Dividers

Flashcard Dividers
Flashcard Dividers
These sturdy and colorful flashcard dividers can help you stay organized, and can also serve as a useful studying tool. Using the Leitner method, you can use these cards to study effectively and brush up on your weak points.

To try the Leitner method, take 50 or 100 cards and put them in a stack. We'll call this Stack 1. Set a specific goal for yourself, such as to learn the on-yomi, or to know at least one vocabulary word (or to use the cards "back to front" and test your ability to write the kanji). (You're not trying to learn everything on the card at once are you? We think it's best to break down your studying into sub-tasks and make several passes through the cards. Otherwise progress is just too slow and discouraging!) Proceed through the stack testing yourself. If you answer your correctly, place the card in a second stack (Stack 2). If you get it wrong, it goes back in Stack 1. Then proceed through Stack 2, when you get cards right, move them to Stack 3, and if you get them wrong demote the cards all the way back to Stack 1. Always demote a card you got wrong all the way back to the first stack. In the end, if you have 5 stacks total, then you will have answered all the cards in Stack 5 correctly four times consecutively. The result of the Leitner system is that you are given a method to prioritize your studying: focus on the flashcards that are the most difficult when you are alert and review the easier flashcards when you want a lighter study session. You can use these colorful plastic cards to mark your stacks when storing the cards. What I do is lay down the plastic cards in a row, then I place the cards on top of them. When I'm done studying for the day, I just pick up the piles, stacking them from left to right, and place them back into the box. The plastic dividers let me know how to set things back up next time I continue my review. Cards are 3.5" x 2.5" (same as our flashcards). Five cards in a set.
