Chukyu kara Manabu Nihongo [Intermediate Text & Workbook]

This textbook and workbook is one of the most popular tools for intermediate students! By the time you are finished, you will be close to becoming an advanced student.

Every chapter starts with a list of new vocabulary (some kanji have furigana, some do not), and a long, 1-2 page reading passage - usually in the form of a story or anecdote. Following the reading there are reading comprehension questions, and a variety of exercises that allow you to practice the new grammar points.

It's a very useful book, though the one thing it lacks is detailed explanations. It's all in Japanese. This book is perfect for motivated self-studiers who don't mind looking things up. It will be most rewarding for this type of student. The passages are pretty interesting, and the exercises and vocabulary are very useful. We highly recommend this book.
